OPEN EYES, DEAR SAINT!

Thou must open eyes to see...
and Wake thyself from slumber,
Acknowledge sin when found by thee
Even if great in number.

But Greater is He within thee
Than he that is in the world.
Greater is He at setting free,
Though accusations are hurled

incessantly to confound thee
And render thee useless.
Turn thine eyes upon He
Who can take that sin so ruthless

and extract it from thine heart today.
In thine own strength it will not budge
There is but one annointed way
Faith! with penitent prayer; holy nudge,

To God Who listens for such pleas,
With knowing, compassionate heart,
To rid thee of the fatal disease
that sin, loved, will in the end impart.

For unchecked and wanton sin
Will, mercilessly, do thee in.
Pray dear needy saint of His
Do not this divine duty miss.

Send thy petition to the throne,
As captive needing liberty,
Repeat it oft, till the job is done -
fetters fallen and heart set free.
